What does "FAQs"
mean?
The word "FAQs" is
an abbreviation for Frequently Asked
Questions. These are questions that
are asked regularly enough that they are placed on their own
page to make it easy for people to find the answers.
Why did you change
the layout of GameWing?
The layout of GameWing was
changed because I now have a script (or program) that helps
me run the webpages. The purpose of this script is to make
it easier to add games to make it more exciting for the users.
In the past, it used to take a lot of time to add a game where
now it only takes a minute or two.
Do
I have to register to play games on GameWing?
No! You do not have to register
to play games on this site. In fact, I have always taught
my students that you should NOT give out
personal information over the internet so I think it would
be a bad idea to force you to register to play on this site.
Can you register? Of course you can if you want, but I do
not require you to register to play.
Why
did you choose the name GameWing?
If you have ever tried
to buy a website name, you probably noticed that all the good
ones are taken. So, I searched for an available name that
I knew would be easy to remember and easy for most people
to spell. It was a toss up between GameWing.com or SomeSuperLongNameGameSite.com.
I stand by my decision. :)
Why do you
have ads on GameWing?
GameWing is a website that is run and paid for
by a broke teacher. As some of you may know,
teachers don't make a lot of money. I have placed ads on this site as a way
to try and cover the expenses that it costs to run this site.
What is an APPROPRIATE game or movie
on GameWing?
For
a game to be considered on GameWing, it can
NOT contain:
1) gratuitous or graphic violence including gore,
lots of blood, body parts flying off, etc.
2) mature themes such as nudity, adult situations, etc.
3) immediate links to inappropriate web sites or content.
4) poor quality graphics or composition that takes away from
the enjoyment of the game/movie.
5) the game meets the "beach" standard which means that there is no more skin exposed in the game than you would see at a typical, family oriented U.S. beach. The main reason for this rule is because GameWing carries (as does our sister site, GirlyWing.com) dress-up style games that, as part of the game, has players change outfits on a character (click here
for a sample dress up game).
Are
you really a teacher?
Yes, I really am a teacher. When I started GameWing, I was teaching computers to Kindergarten through 5th grade students. I have changed jobs a bit and I am now working with 6 - 8th grade students...but I'm still a teacher. :)
A game (or
file) that I created is on GameWing and I was not contacted about using it?
Occasionally, I find a game that I think would
be great for the site but there appears to be no apparent contact information.
I would be the first to say that placing a game without the author's permission
is not the best way to do something (and contrary to what I teach my students).
If your game or file is on GameWing, my hope is that you will be kind enough
overlook it since: 1) this is a free site for anyone to use
and I do not charge people to play, 2) I do not claim the work
as my own, and 3) I do not resell your game to profit from
it. If your game is on GameWing and you would like credit and a link for your
hard work, I would be DELIGHTED to provide these on the game page.
Please contact me at admin@gamewing.com
so that I may give you your due credit. If your game is on GameWing and you
would like it removed immediately, I will be happy to comply. Please e-mail
me at admin@gamewing.com for immediate
removal of your game.
GameWing was
gone for a while, what happened?
During the months of May and June
('06) I changed hosts (a host is where all the files are stored for this site).
Well, this created all sorts of problems that took quite a while to get sorted
out. Let's just say that I wasn't happy and I am VERY glad that it is finally
working again!
Do your games on GameWing contain
any viruses or spyware?
I work very hard to keep GameWing safe. This
means keeping it free from inappropriate content such as blood and guts games
AND from spyware and viruses. Don't just take my word for it, see what one of
the leading antivirus companies in the world, McAfee, have said about GameWing
and whether it is safe. Click here
